Our Services

What We Do

At Empowered Disability Support (EDS), we design supports that are tailored to you. Our approach is guided by what you need, what matters most to you, and the funding available to you. We work collaboratively with you to create support that reflects your goals, preferences, and lifestyle.

Where appropriate, we can also collaborate with people who support you, such as your guardian, parents or siblings, partner or spouse, other family members or friends, support coordinator, therapists, medical professionals, or other service providers. We will only work with people you choose, and we will never share information or make contact without your explicit written consent.

NDIS Support

Core Supports

Supported Independent
Living (SIL)

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is NDIS funding for people with disability who require higher levels of support, often including 24/7 assistance. SIL is most commonly provided in shared living arrangements and covers the cost of support staff within the home.

Support provided under SIL may include supervision, prompting, and/or hands-on assistance with:
  • Personal care tasks
  • Household tasks such as meal preparation, cooking, cleaning, and establishing routines
  • Implementing Behaviour Support Plans
  • Developing social skills
  • Supervision to support personal safety and security
  • Medication assistance
  • Support with medical appointments, including booking, coordination, and attendance
  • Non-routine community access, such as attending personal appointments (e.g. gym sessions or hair appointments)
  • Maintaining relationships
  • Building skills and capacity to complete daily tasks independently
Core Supports

SIL funding does not typically cover:

  • Rent
  • Groceries
  • Utilities and household bills
  • Other general living expenses

While EDS does not currently provide housing, we can support you or your representative to explore and secure suitable, affordable accommodation that meets your needs.

In-home Support

In-Home Support (Assistance with Daily Living)

In-Home Support, also known as Assistance with Daily Living (ADLs), is designed for people who require support at home but do not need 24/7 assistance. This NDIS-funded support can include:
  • Household tasks
  • Personal hygiene and self-care support
  • Meal preparation
  • Assistance with medical and personal appointments
  • Grocery shopping
  • Medication assistance

Community Access

Community Access supports are tailored to your individual goals, needs, and interests. Our focus is threefold:
  1. Supporting you to achieve your goals and build confidence in accessing your community
  2. Encouraging meaningful inclusion and connection within your community
  3. Helping you enjoy new experiences and have fun
We work alongside you to create opportunities that are meaningful, enjoyable, and aligned with what matters to you.
Community Access
Supported Holidays

1:1 Supported Holidays

Utilising 1:1 Core Support funding (Community Access, Assistance with Daily Living, Supported Independent Living, or a combination of the above) and a customised participant co-payment to cover the cost of the trip itself, we can help you plan your dream holiday and provide support on the holiday. We only support 1:1 holidays as we want the holiday to be about you - and your goals.

Capacity Building

Individual Skill Development

Individual Skill Development

Though we believe all support should be centred around building your capacity, Individual Skill Development is a line in some NDIS Plans that relates to developing your skills in a specific area to achieve your NDIS Plan goals. This type of support is very specific and has more requirements than your usual support costs. Together we will develop a plan around how we support you to achieve your goal, and we will write reports regarding your progress for each Plan meeting.

This funding type is usually very limited and is usually used in conjunction with Core Support funding.

Innovative Community Participation

There are two types of community-based supports available through the NDIS. Routine or regular community access is provided under Core Supports (see above). Innovative Community Participation, however, focuses on building the skills you need to participate in your community more independently.
This support is typically short-term and delivered in two stages:
  1. Planning  identifying what you want to do and how to achieve it
  2. Skill Building – learning practical skills such as booking tickets, planning activities, and building community connections

We provide hands-on support in real-world settings until you feel confident and capable of accessing your community independently.
